Growing feet change fast, and kids rarely tell you when a shoe is too tight. Bring them to Joe King's Shoe Shop in downtown Concord and we'll measure both feet, check length and width, and leave just the right amount of room to grow.
Every kid grows at a different rate, so there's no reliable way to predict when they'll need the next size. That's why we re-measure both feet every time you come in instead of guessing from the last pair. It only takes a few minutes, and it's always free.
Not sure if it's time for new shoes? Watch for these signs:
A good kids' fitting looks at more than the number on the box.
We measure both feet and fit the bigger one, leaving a little room to grow without so much that the shoe slips or trips them up.
Kids' feet come in widths too. We check width at every fitting and carry wide sizes in many styles.
The heel should stay put when they walk, and the shoe should bend where their foot bends.
Hook-and-loop straps, zippers, laces or hands-free styles. See our easy-on shoes.
Our kids' sizes start at infant 4, with soft baby shoes for even smaller feet.
| Stage | Typical sizes | What we carry |
|---|---|---|
| Baby | Sized by age in months | Soft baby shoes from Robeez and Kizik, in the store only for now |
| Infant & Toddler | 4 to 10 | First walkers and toddler shoes, starting at infant size 4 |
| Little Kid | 10.5 to 3 | Sneakers, sandals, boots and school shoes |
| Big Kid | 3.5 to 7 | Some brands end at size 4, others go up to 7 |
Size ranges vary a little from brand to brand. Our Shoe Size Converter can help, and after big kid sizes, most kids move into adult sizes.
Sneakers, school shoes, sandals, rain boots and snow boots from brands parents trust.
Our back-to-school rush hits in mid-August. If you can, come in a little earlier for a more relaxed fitting.
Get winter boots fitted before the first storm, with the thick socks they'll actually wear. Shop winter boots.
The socks they'll wear and any insoles or orthotics. We'll have them walk around the shop before you decide.
